Description of IAS Solutions
The following are descriptions of Integral Ad Science, Inc.’s (“IAS”) services and solutions, and certain additional terms that apply to Client’s use of such services and solutions (as may be specified in Client’s Agreement and/or Order(s) with IAS) (collectively, “Additional Terms”). These Additional Terms are subject to change from time to time as required by IAS by posting a new version without notice to Client.
IAS DATA
Through IAS’s user interface or such other means as mutually agreed upon, Client will have access to and use of IAS Data according to IAS’s specified guidelines. IAS Data is intended to verify the level of media quality and enable optimization and ad effectiveness capabilities.
IAS Data will be associated with URLs and mobile apps that have been analyzed by IAS based upon criteria designated by IAS. A description of the IAS Data is outlined below:
- Quality ImpressionsTM. Quality ImpressionsTM is a proprietary metric that ensures media quality standards based on criteria set by Clients for Viewability, Invalid Traffic, Brand Safety (includes custom lists and keywords) and in-geo targeting.
- Viewability. IAS’s Viewability measurement reveals whether an ad impression has the opportunity to be seen, and with the use of Invalid Traffic technology, seen by actual consumers, not bots. IAS viewability data takes into consideration web browsers, monitor sizes, screen resolutions, ad size, the placement on the page the ad is being served to, the amount of time a user spends on a page, and the likelihood a user will scroll until the ad is in view.
- Invalid Traffic. IAS’s Invalid Traffic technology is based on a set of methodologies that when used in tandem, detects, reports and blocks various types of invalid traffic, including General Invalid Traffic (GIVT) and Sophisticated Invalid Traffic (SIVT).
- Brand Safety, Suitability & Contextual Targeting. IAS’s Brand Safety & Suitability verification solution seeks to protect brands by assessing the level of risk and appropriateness of context. Brand Safety & Suitability is available at the pre-bid level and via post-bid blocking. Contextual Targeting provides programmatic buyers with the ability to target contextually relevant content.
- Geographical Compliance. IAS measures and reports on the locations where ads served, based on Client specifications. Measurement can be based on country, state, or designated market area (DMA).
- Audibility. IAS’s Audibility measurement solution reveals whether an ad impression has had the opportunity to be heard by taking into consideration Invalid Traffic technology, whether the ad was unmuted, the volume of the ad in a non-zero state, and if the ad plays for at least 2 consecutive seconds.
IAS SOLUTIONS
The IAS Data described above is made available to Clients through IAS Measurement which covers both available measurement and reporting capabilities. The IAS Data can also be applied to improve media quality with IAS Optimization. Each capability differs in implementation based on Client’s intended use and benefit.
Client’s Agreement or Order with IAS will indicate the specific IAS Solutions to which Client shall have access.
Measurement
- Firewall (display/video). IAS’s Firewall solution provides verification, monitoring and blocking (when enabled and available) for ads in desktop/mobile browser, mobile in-app, connected TV, and digital audio environments. The Firewall solution aggregates and reports on Client inventory post-delivery (roughly 24 hours post-delivery) based on IAS measurement.
- Campaign Monitor Pixel (display/video). IAS’s Campaign Monitor Pixel provides verification for display and video ads in a desktop/mobile browser environment. The Campaign Monitor Pixel aggregates and reports on Client inventory post-delivery (roughly 24 hours post-delivery) based on IAS measurement.
- Proprietary Platforms (display/video). IAS’s Proprietary Platform partnerships include major social platforms, including, but not limited to, Meta, YouTube, TikTok, X (FKA Twitter), Pinterest, Snap, Spotify, and Yahoo Native. Each partnership has a custom integration which, depending on the parameters agreed upon between the parties, provides viewability, invalid traffic and/or brand safety and suitability reporting and actionable insights. Use of these proprietary platform measurement solutions may be also subject to terms and conditions set and communicated by the third-party platform from time to time.
- Total Media Quality (display/video). IAS’s Total Media Quality product suite uses advanced machine learning technology to provide more granular insights across brand safety and suitability, viewability, and invalid traffic measurement. Total Media Quality is available on YouTube, TikTok, and Meta post-bid measurement. Clients will be notified as additional platforms are available.
- Firewall + 3rd Party Ad Server Bundle. IAS will provide Client with access to and use of a joint offering in which Client will receive the benefit of a third-party ad serving tool as well as IAS’s firewall display solution which provides verification with blocking for display ads in a desktop/mobile browser environment and in a mobile in-app environment. This solution is currently only available to Clients in Japan.
Use of this solution is subject to the following additional terms and conditions:
-
- Client acknowledges and agrees that use of the Firewall + 3rd Party Ad Server Bundle (“Bundled Service”) represents its express prior consent for IAS to share data and information about Client with fluct, Inc. (“Fluct”), some of which may be considered Confidential Information, in order for Fluct to provide ad serving services to Client via its ad serving tool, Gold Spot Media. Any Confidential Information of Client passed to Fluct is subject to confidentiality provisions that are no less strict than the confidentiality provisions in the Agreement between IAS and Client. Client also acknowledges and agrees that if at any time the partnership between Fluct and IAS terminates, Client will no longer have access to the Bundled Service but may continue to use IAS’s verification services upon amendment to its Agreement with IAS.
- Publisher Verification. IAS’s Publisher Verification provides Client with a monitoring pixel or a video specific integration option that aggregates and provides a report of measurability and viewability data on Client inventory post-delivery (roughly 24 hours post-delivery). Such data can be reported at the ID level using macros (e.g., Publisher ID, Advertiser ID, Zone ID, etc.). The monitoring pixel will be integrated into Google Ad Manager (GAM) and such other ad servers as may be requested by Client from time to time and the video specific integration option will be integrated in the header or video player as required.
Optimization
- Pre-bid Targeting. Pre-bid targeting maximizes the potential media quality of RTB inventory by applying media quality intelligence to programmatic buying. Buy-side customers may leverage pre-bid targeting segments within those DSPs with whom IAS has integrations. DSPs and other sell side customers may be permitted to use pre-bid targeting data segments internally or to resell pre-bid targeting data segments to clients and advertiser/agency customers who can apply pre-bid targeting data segments to programmatic buys. Use of this solution by DSPs and other sell side customers is subject to mutually agreed Technical Specifications setting forth implementation requirements, restrictions on use, permissible use cases, and any reporting obligations.
- Context Control/Social Optimization. IAS’s context control optimization solution provides programmatic buyers with tools to both target content that is contextually relevant for a given brand or campaign in order to increase recognition and engagement and avoid content that is not suitable for a given brand or campaign while not over-blocking potentially appropriate contexts. Context Control Avoidance and Context Control Targeting are available via pre-bid segments within major global DSPs.
As part of IAS’s Context Control suite of Optimization solutions, Clients have access to Social Optimization directly from IAS. IAS’s Social Optimization solution applies IAS’s machine learning powered models to provide Client with brand suitable/contextually relevant inclusion and/or exclusion lists of channels and/or videos, as applicable, from social media platforms, including YouTube, Meta and TikTok.
Use of Social Optimization is subject to the following additional terms and conditions:- Restrictions. Client shall be prohibited from sharing, transferring, transmitting, or otherwise communicating any inclusion or exclusion list provided hereunder to any third party (except where Client is an advertising agency, Client may share such lists with the advertiser for which the lists were created). Client’s violation of this Section 1 shall be a material breach of Client’s Agreement or Order.
- Termination. The parties agree that IAS may terminate the Social Optimization solution, for one or more platforms, at any time upon written notice if such solution is no longer made available by the applicable platform. Any termination of a Social Optimization solution shall have no effect on the validity of, or continued effectiveness of, Client’s Agreement or Order.
- Fees. Unlike the Context Control pre-bid segments, Clients will be billed for use of Social Optimization directly by IAS pursuant to the terms of Client’s Agreement or Order. Please note that Social Optimization for YouTube will be charged based on the total tracked ads for all impressions at the account-level.
- Real-Time Data Signals (RTS) Bid Optimization. IAS’s real-time data signals bid optimization solution allows Clients to receive near real-time data that can be layered on top of other data sources for bid-learning or campaign optimization. Use of this solution is subject to mutually agreed Technical Specifications setting forth implementation requirements and additional parameters for use.
- Publisher Optimization. Client’s Agreement or Order with IAS will indicate which of the following Publisher Optimization capabilities Client will have access to contingent upon a mutually agreed implementation plan:
- IAS’s Publisher Optimization provides a pixel placed directly on a webpage that fires before the ad request is made and provides predictions for the level of brand safety, invalid traffic (IVT), and/or viewability, as applicable, for each ad slot on the page. These predictions are passed to the Client’s ad server, which then makes appropriate delivery decisions based upon that data;
- IAS’s Publisher Keyword Optimization solution enables Client to avoid serving an advertiser’s ads against URLs that would have otherwise been blocked by IAS’s Firewall (blocking) tags, reducing impression waste. An advertiser’s unique keyword exclusion list determines what keywords to be avoided by Client’s ad server; and
- IAS’s Context Control Optimization solution enables Client to avoid serving an advertiser’s ads against content that such advertiser deems unsuitable or target such advertiser’s ads toward content that is contextually relevant to such advertiser by inputting existing off-the-shelf or brand/advertiser-specific contextual segment codes directly into its ad server.
Use of this solution is also subject to mutually agreed Technical Specifications setting forth implementation requirements and additional parameters for use.

Automated Tag
IAS’s Automated Tag Solution is available for use within those ad servers that have completed the necessary tagging automation integration (each, an “Automated Tag Enabled Ad Server”). IAS’s Automated Tag Solution enables mutual clients of IAS and an Automated Tag Enabled Ad Server to automatically wrap display and video ad server tags with IAS Firewall tags without leaving the Automated Tag Enabled Ad Server platform. Additionally, when enabled within a particular Automated Tag Enabled Ad Server that has an existing DSP (pre-bid data segment targeting) integration with IAS, Client’s pre-bid targeting segments can be set to align with its IAS Firewall campaign settings by default. IAS’s Automated Tag Solution is provided at no additional charge and its use is at Client’s sole discretion.
Use of the Automated Tag solution is subject to the following additional terms and conditions:
- Client Acknowledgments and Obligations.
(a) When Client activates the IAS Automated Tag Solution, Client hereby acknowledges and agrees to the following automated decisions being made during the campaign implementation process:
(i) IAS will create tags for all Automated Tag Enabled Ad Server campaigns for Client that are linked to IAS campaigns. In the creation of such tags, the following campaign settings will be applied:
(A) IAS will automatically add media partners to campaigns if tags are sent to IAS for a media partner that is not listed in Client’s IAS campaign;
(B) IAS will build all ad placements in monitoring mode (versus blocking) only when a publisher to media partner relationship does not exist in Client’s IAS campaign; and
(C) IAS will automatically update ad placements to blocking mode (versus monitoring), when a publisher to media partner relationship is established, without the need of re-trafficking such ad placements.
(ii) IAS will hold wrapped tags as pending until such time as the IAS Media Partner Statement of Work is entered into between IAS and a media partner. For the avoidance of doubt, when Client identifies a media partner within a campaign as being responsible for certain IAS verification fees related to that campaign (“Media Partner Fees”) and that identified media partner fails to pay a validly issued IAS invoice for its Media Partner Fees, Client will nonetheless remain responsible to IAS for any such unpaid Media Partner Fees.
(iii) In the event that Client incorrectly links its Automated Tag Enabled Ad Server campaign(s) to an IAS campaign(s), it will be Client’s responsibility to re-link the campaign in order to enable wrapping of such placements with the IAS tag(s). IAS shall not be liable to Client for any direct or indirect damages due to Client’s incorrect linking of its Automated Tag Enabled Ad Server campaigns to IAS campaigns.
(iv) Where partner-paid billing is used in Client’s IAS campaign, if IAS must map a publisher to a media partner or create a new media partner in such IAS campaign, tags will be held in a pending state until the mapping has taken place, which may take up to forty-eight (48) hours. In addition, if Client updates an ad placement from monitoring to blocking mode (or vice versa), such change will take effect within three (3) hours.
(b) Client acknowledges that IAS’s verification for proprietary platforms solution is not supported by the Automated Tag Solution.
(c) Client acknowledges that IAS is under no obligation to integrate with, or maintain an integration with, any particular ad server.
