Happy Earth Day! This year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” serves as a powerful reminder that collective action is the driving force behind environmental progress.
At IAS, we are committed to building a more sustainable future for the advertising industry. For the last five years, we’ve thought intentionally about how our operations affect the environment and the world around us. Our commitment to sustainability is a shared one. Our customers are dedicated to minimizing the environmental impact of their digital media, and they seek partners who are equally committed to this cause.
A Timeline of Sustainability: IAS Milestones (2021–2025)
As we celebrate Earth Day 2026, we’d like to take a moment to revisit the progress we’ve made throughout the years.
2021: Building the Foundation
IAS begins its sustainability journey with internal commitments to begin data collection across key teams
2022: Introducing Carbon Measurement
In September 2022, IAS integrated Good-Loop’s carbon measurement solution into the IAS Signal platform. With this integration, IAS customers can seamlessly track the carbon footprint of their digital ads.
2023: Transparency and Accountability
We published our inaugural Responsibility Report and joined Ad Net Zero.
2024: Measuring Corporate Footprint
We partnered with leading sustainability solutions providers Alpine Project and 51 to Carbon Zero to measure our corporate carbon footprint across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 and develop a comprehensive sustainability strategy.
2025: Verification and Global Integration
- The Climate Registry: We joined The Climate Registry and independently verified two years of carbon emissions inventories with Cameron-Cole, an accredited emissions verifier.
- Impact Plus Partnership (June 2025): Through our partnership with Impact Plus, advertisers can now track and optimize the environmental impact of their digital campaigns directly within IAS reports.
- Enhanced Measurement (September 2025): We enhanced our integration with Good-Loop to allow advertisers to seamlessly measure the carbon emissions of every ad impression at no additional cost.
- SBTi Commitment: We committed to setting both near-term and net-zero targets via the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). For more information about our commitments, find us on SBTi’s Target Dashboard.
Looking Ahead: Our 2026 Roadmap to Net Zero
As we look to 2026, we are turning measurement into action. We look forward to setting formal science-based emissions reduction targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Our focus is on creating a clear roadmap to Net Zero by managing our internal operations and enhancing our products to help our partners reduce the carbon footprint of their digital campaigns.
We are proud of the steps we’ve taken this far, and the journey has just begun! We hope you join us in building a more sustainable advertising ecosystem.
