Protect your brand from low-quality AI-generated content—before and after the bid—with IAS Quality Sync and Context Control Avoidance. Now generally available, with data proving it performs.
As generative AI transforms the digital ecosystem, advertisers are facing new questions around content quality, brand safety, and media trust. The rapid rise of low-quality AI-generated content, often referred to as “AI slop,” is reshaping how brands think about where their ads appear and the environments they associate with.
Nearly half of consumers don’t trust brands that advertise on websites heavily reliant on AI-generated content, and 75% of advertisers say they would not want their ads appearing next to it (IAS B2B Survey, Sept. 2025). The reputational and performance stakes are real, growing, and now backed by hard data.
That’s why IAS is proud to announce that Low-Quality GenAI Avoidance is now generally available, giving advertisers and agencies a powerful, seamless way to protect their brands and maximize campaign quality at scale.
The Numbers Don’t Lie: Quality Inventory Drives Real Results.
Since launching in open beta, IAS has been closely monitoring how ad performance differs across the quality spectrum. What we observed is significant.
Analyzing over one billion impressions served between May 14–17 (IAS Total Visibility data), IAS found that impressions served on inventory not classified as low-quality AI-generated content delivered a 49% higher success rate—defined as total clicks and conversions relative to total impressions. Even more compelling for performance-focused advertisers: serving on higher-quality, non-AI slop inventory also drove a 24% decrease in cost per success, meaning brands aren’t just getting better outcomes—they’re getting them more efficiently.
AI Slop Stops Here. Your Campaigns Don’t.
IAS Low-Quality GenAI Avoidance works seamlessly within Context Control Avoidance to detect and score low-quality AI-generated content in near real time, so your ads only appear alongside authentic, premium content. Activation requires no additional contract or workflow overhaul.
Pre-bid avoidance is available today via the off-the-shelf Context Control Avoidance segment Low Quality GenAI (1539658), which can be activated directly in your DSP or added to your Quality Sync brand suitability profile for automatic syncing across integrated DSPs. Post-bid measurement and blocking are also available through standard Context Control reporting in IAS Signal UI and Report Builder. Coverage applies to English-language text content across the open web (desktop and mobile web), with display and video placements supported.
This Is Just the Beginning.
IAS is actively working to expand its AI slop coverage to include other formats and environments, with more detailed timelines to be shared later in 2026. As AI-generated content continues to evolve, so will IAS—continuously calibrating our models to stay ahead of the curve and deliver the precision your brand demands.
